Week commencing 2nd July 2006
Regularly READ THE BIBLE and apply it to my life

Reading
the Bible is part of being a disciple of Christ. In he Bible, God reveals
his incredible love for us and how to live life to the full.

Talk
Discuss in your household or small group
How do
you feel when you get an email or letter from a friend?
The Bible
is God’s “letter” to you!!
Share
some favourite Bible verses. What is special about them? What do they
say about God?
Why do we
use maps? How is the bible like a map? (link with faith walk)

Walk
Go for a walk in an unfamiliar place. When you have finished, give each
family member a piece of paper and some markers. Have each person
independently draw a “map” of the area yo
u
walked in. Compare the maps. How are they similar? How are they
different? Are they accurate? Look at Psalm 119:105 and talk about it.
Find
items that represent the treasures we receive from God’s Word (eg cross =
forgiveness, heart = God’s love – use your imagination!) Hide these
“treasures” around the house, and write clues to help find them. Send the
family on a “treasure hunt” to look for them. What does each treasure
stand for? What “treasures” do we find in God’s Word? Look at Matthew
13:44-46 and talk about it.
Rituals and Traditions
Make a
family Bible Story book with your favourite Bible stories in it. Chose a
favourite story each, and write and illustrate the book. Read the stories
together.
Service
God’s
word helps us to grow. Give a potted plant to a friend or neighbour with
a message and favourite Bible verse as an encouragement for them.
