Week commencing 9th July 2006BUILD FRIENDSHIPS with other Christians to help eachother grow spirituallyIn the Bible, the phrase “one another” or “each other” comes up time and time again. We are called to “build each other up”, “love one another”, “accept one another”, “forgive one another” etc.
Living and growing as a Christian means living and growing in community
Faith Talk Discuss in your household or small group Who has been important to you in your Christian walk - as an individual, or as a family? How can you be a friend to someone you know who is having a tough time lately? Friendships are a two way street. We give and receive through relationships. How does this work in your family?
Devotional Life
How
does God help us to grow through friendships with others? (See the Bible
Pray for those people who God has placed in your life as significant Christian friends. Pray that your relationship with them may grow.
Rituals and Traditions If you are not part of a Friendship Group, consider being part of one. It’s a great way to build relationships with other Christians. In your family, you might try this way of praying for one another. Put all the names of the family in a hat/bowl, and each pick out a name. Put it back if it is yours and draw another one. Promise to pray for the person during the week. You might like to do this every week as a way to care for one another by praying for one another.
Service Write a card to a friend who has helped you to grow thanking them for being your friend.
Take the opportunity to invite a family or a friend for a meal.
