SERVE both within and beyond
St John’s
community
God’s love for us is a huge motivation to love and serve others – we
love because God first loved us.
Faith Talk
Discuss in your household or small
group
How
have others served you or your family? How did you feel about that?
How
has God blessed you?
What
are some ways you can bless others by serving them others – at church,
school, neighbours, overseas?
Devotional Life
Read
the paper or watch/listen to the news with the intent of finding out
the needs of others.
Pray
for the donations that you decide to give to aid agencies – that God
will use it to help others.
Rituals and TraditionsConsider
making your support of charity a family tradition (see service ideas
below).
Service
Consider adopting a family service project. Ideas include
·
sponsoring
a child as a family.
·
buying some extra grocery items each week to give to Lutheran
Community Care or another local charity
·
clean
up a local park
·
serve
one another in your family by choosing a household job that you will
do for the week (or a month! or forever!!!)
