HELP OTHERS TO LEARN ABOUT JESUS

by giving of my time, money and abilities

God calls us to share Jesus’ love with others.  As  disciples of Jesus  we are prepared to give generously of our time, money and abilities that God has generously given to us.

Faith Talk

How has God been generous to you?

What gets in the way of giving our time, money and abilities?

(see also Parent Toolbox)

Devotional Life

Pray for the work o our congregation.

Pray for generosity to give our time, money and abilities so that others can learn about Jesus.

Rituals and Traditions

The discipline of regular giving is an important habit to develop in a child’s life.  Pray for the offerings that you give as a family – that God will multiply them.  Pray that God will use our time and abilities to help others learn about Jesus.

Service

Write a “thank you” note to someone in the congregation who is giving their time and abilities so that others can learn about Jesus.

Parent Toolbox:

In his second letter to the Corinthians, Paul wrote to them about financial giving.  Christian parents have the God-given responsibility to teach their children about what it means to give financially to the work of God’s kingdom and for the wider needs of the world.  Here are some suggestions to help in teaching your children about church giving:

1.       Talk to your children about your own church giving.  Let them see you give.

2.       If you give your children a regular “allowance”, help them divide it between savings, spending and giving.  Have them put their personal offering onto the church collection plate.

3.       If your children earn money (e.g. for chores), encourage them to set aside some of this for church giving.

4.       Involve your children in arranging and making physical offerings-in-kind e.g. food pantry or Thanksgiving Sunday donations.
