Our Vision Statement
- As a mission-minded Church, we seek to live by
the Gospel of forgiveness; having a living relationship with Jesus
and honouring him in everything that we do.
- As a mission-minded Church, we offer a variety
of appropriate worship services which meet the different needs of
people. We are intentionally welcoming to people who have had
little or no contact with the Church as well as catering for those who
have been Christians all their lives.
- As a mission-minded Church, we use new and
innovative ways of communicating the Gospel in our worship
services through the use of contemporary music, drama, and
multi-media presentations, which both appeal to youth and are
accessible to people who don't know Christ.
- As a mission-minded Church, we are committed to
working in partnership with families in passing on the faith
to their children and to others in their social network.
- As a mission-minded Church, we are committed to
being a youth-friendly community which provides children and
youth with relevant, Christ-centred, relational ministry,
through which young people are encouraged to grow into responsible adult
membership in the Church.
- As a mission-minded Church, we are a centre for
growing in Christian discipleship: We help people to become more
mature Christians by encouraging, modelling, and assisting them to
discover, nurture and use their spiritual gifts in ministry to
others. In all this our goal is that they adopt a servant lifestyle
and become increasingly more effective witnesses to Jesus.
- As a mission-minded Church, we undergird all our
ministry with prayer. We also help and encourage people to
grow in their own personal devotional lives of regularly praying
and reading the Bible.
- As a mission-minded Church, we endeavour to
care for all people who participate in any of our congregation's
activities by befriending them and, whenever possible, helping them to
become part of our faith community through our Small Group Ministry
program.
- As a mission-minded Church, we are committed to
reaching out with Gospel to the people of the Unley area and
beyond (in Australia and overseas), providing ministries which meet
people's various spiritual, physical, emotional, and social needs in a
sensitive and caring manner.
- As a mission-minded Church, we view our ministry
through St. John's Lutheran School as one of our key outreach
strategies and thus we work in partnership with the school staff to
intentionally share Jesus' love with the students and their families in
a relational, Christ-like way.
- As a mission-minded Church, we continue to
explore the huge outreach potential presenting itself at Concordia
College, by co-operating with the College staff in ministry, sharing
facilities and resources, and by mutual support and encouragement.
- As a mission-minded Church, we promote
opportunities for Christian service and outreach in the wider Church,
especially among our youth, and explore ways of ministering to other
Lutheran congregations through sending out ministry teams and the like.
